Teach Hip Hop Dancing to Your Kids

There are a many different styles and moves that are part of the dance style "Hip Hop".  Many people believe that the conrnerstone of this style is break dancing.  Breakdancing is old school street dancing that has evolved into a major contender in the world of dance.  Hip Hop and breakdancing are often taught hand in hand when doing choreography and cool routines to "wow" the audience.  There are soooo many styles that have evolved from these styles over time. Some examples are Funk, Popping and Locking, jigging, freaking, krumping and house.  These are all styles evolving from hip hop and break dancing.

There is no doubt of the influence hip hop dancing has on the kids that it touches.  Here in the USA, many people take their kids to hip hop lessons and it seems that every teacher has their own style and form.  At this time there is no syllabus to say what is right or wrong for this style so for most, it's very freestyle and form fitting.  YOu can dance to your own inner beat and many kids are learning to get out there and bust a move with the best of them.

Not really getting it?  Turn on your favorite music video station and watch for 10 minutes, you will see exactly what i'm talking about.  Most top 40 videos include some style of hip hop or breakdancing during the dance portion of the video.  Many of these dances catch on with the young kids and they do it at school and ont he streets while showing off to their friends.

Hip Hop and breakdancing is a great way to get kids to express themselves as individuals and learn to work together with other kids with like interests.  Most dancers are drug and alcohol free because it is VERY difficult to bust out great moves while under the influence.  It's also a great way to get exercise and keep your heart and lungs in good shape.

Teaching hip hop dance can help physical education stay relevant and teach self confidence, lifelong healthy habits, and how to have fun socializing. Teachers get kids into hip hop dance with fundamentals, basic choreography, and application of moves.

Check out your local studio to see what classes are best for your kids.  Many kids programs these days are non profit because of the present economic times.  Most people that teach dance, do it for the kids and because they love to do it.  Find the classes near you that fit your schedule.
