What IS Latin Dancing?

Latin dancing is gaing popularity on all the dance floors and it is known for its sensual hip action and sexy rhythms. Latin dancing can be defined in all the hispanic cultures but is also widely known and popular on the Ballroom Dance Floor.  Learning the Latin dances are fairly easy because most of them are made up of the same basic foot work.

Basic:

The actual term "Latin Dance" may be defined in two ways.
   1. Style of dances originating in Latin America
   2. Category of International style of ballroom dances.

There are many dances that originated in Latin America, therefore they are referred to as Latin dances.  International Latin is a category of International ballroom dancing.  It constists of the following dances:

   1. Cha Cha: Energetic and sassy, the Cha-Cha
is danced to authentic Latin music or
Latin Pop. It is an offshoot of the Mambo.
   2. Rumba: Known as the "dance of love." Danced to romantic, Latin love songs, it is fun and quite easy to
                    learn.

   3. Samba: Often difficult to master, the Samba is a lively Brazilian dance consisting of many jumps and
turns. The Samba is an extremely fast dance.

   4. Paso Doble: Meaning "two step" in Spanish, Pasa Doble is a lively, march-like dance with significantly
                    less hip movement.
   5. Jive: A variation of the Jitterbug, the Jive consists of dance steps derived from country dancing.

Latin Style:

When compared to other ballroom dance styles, the latin dances are generally a bit faster paced and sensual.  Much more expression in the steps.  It is for couples and they sometimes dance in a closed position, tight, and can hold one or both hands.  It is sultry and physical with playful moveents that make the different dances endlessly entertaining.

Tiajuana's Nightclub is Closed!!!

I just read this article in OC Register about Tiajuana's in Irvine closing down.  Well Known Bar and Grill files for bankruptcy.  It deeply saddens me to see this kind of thing happening all around me day after day.  It is a constant battle for the small business owner to just keep our doors open.  Is this economy every going to give us a break?  These past few months have been very difficult but we are starting our New Year with a new thought process.  I am sooooo tired of crying about finances and worrying about when the next bill will be able to be paid.  It's time to just turn it loose and let it happen.

It has been proven time and time again that a positive attitude and a good outlook brings positive results and all the things you want in life. Sometime you just have to turn it over to a higher power and let go.  That is my goal this year.  I want to let go and let God.

2012 will prove to be the best year ever and The Bea Hive will thrive with business.  We will have huge dance events and parties and teach the world to dance. All of our instructors will work together as a team to achieve a common goal and everyone will benefit.  Our Zumba programs will grown out of control and we will have to add even more classes.  Our latin and ballroom programs will be busting at the seams and people will line up to take the weekly classes.  Our performing team will be good enough to compete at the LA Salsa Congress in May and our kids will elicit standing ovations every time they perform.

I hope that is enough positive thinking for now.  After my bah humbug Christmas i needed a more positive outlook.  This positive thinking will allow us to survive.  Don't go down with the economy, stay on top with the winners.

It is truly sad that Tiajuanas is closed for business but trust me when i say, "It won't be for long". Some other restaurant bar owner will lease the property and reopen under a different name.  We will still salsa dance there and The Bea Hive will provide the instructors to do it!!
